Discussion

DEFINITION

The iliotibial fascia arises from the iliac tubercle and presents with longitudinally oriented fibers that spraid along the lateral aspect of the thigh to aninsertion on Gerdy’s tubercle.

At the level of the greatertrochanter, the Ilio tibial band receives contributions from the facia lata tensor and gluteus maximus muscle tendons.

At this level it is well known to being participating to the snapping hip. Its disruption occurs in elderly poeple
