Right upper medial ductal carcinoma in situ

Report

Diagnosis

Right upper medial ductal carcinoma in situ

History

Patient not monitored.
Discovery of ACR 5 micro-calcifications in the right breast.
Referred for macro-biopsies.

Findings

Linear, branching micro-calcifications, of segmental distribution, triangular with the tip pointed towards the nipple: this distribution was clearly visible with tomography, particularly when increasingly thick sections were used (3 to 4 mm).

Discussion

Tomosynthesis is of no apparent use in the morphological analysis of micro-calcifications (enlarged images are the gold standard). On the other hand, studying their distribution is made easier by the analysis in sections, particularly in dense breast tissue.
