Applications of magnetization transfer
Magnetization transfer enhances the contrast in angiography by toning down the signal of gray matter and white matter.
On the other hand, magnetization transfer has no effect on tissues that do not contain protons bound to macromolecules or proteins: fat, bone marrow, edema, liquids (circulating blood, LCR, bile, synovial liquid, urine).
