Processo estilóide - Processus styloideus

Descrição

The radial styloid process is a projection of bone on the lateral surface of the distal radius bone. It extends obliquely downward into a strong, conical projection.

In the horse the distal part of the ulna is incorporated within the radius: for sake of clarity, the Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria has inserted two subentries for the styloid process for horse:

  • The medial styloid process that is homologous to "styloid process" and sometimes denominated as the "radial styloid process".
  • The lateral styloid process that appears to originate from the radius, although developmentally it belongs to the ulna and sometimes denominated as the "ulnar styloid process".
