马尾

脊髓的马尾是指一束起源于脊髓下端（特别是脊髓圆锥）的脊神经和神经根，向下延伸于椎管的腰骶区域。该结构形似马尾，其名称即由此而来。马尾包含腰神经根、骶神经根和尾神经根，负责为下肢、盆腔器官和会阴提供感觉和运动神经支配。
马尾的形成是由于脊髓与脊柱生长速率相对不一致所致。在胚胎早期，神经根横向向外延伸以到达各自的椎间孔；随着发育进行，神经根的走向由上至下愈发倾斜，以至于腰神经和骶神经几乎垂直下行，方能到达其相应的出口位置。
