胼胝体是连接大脑半球并构成侧脑室顶部的巨大横向连合。通过观察脑的正中矢状切面，可以清晰地了解其位置与大小——胼胝体呈弓形结构，长约10厘米。其前端距额极约4厘米，后端距半球枕极约6厘米。
