隔核（内侧嗅区）是一组位于胼胝体嘴部下方、终板前方的结构（终板为脑内连接视交叉与前连合的脊髓灰质层，前连合在此处与吻侧薄板延续）。隔核由中等大小的神经元组成，分为内侧群、外侧群和后群：
