Pterygoid fossa - Fossa pterygoidea

描述

The pterygoid fossa is the caudal depression between pterygoid bone and pterygoid process in pigs.

The pterygoid fossa is quasi indistinguishable in carnivores because the pterygoid bone is completely welded with the pterygoid process of presphenoid bone (the pterygoid fossa described in the Miller seems to be a mistake, especially by comparing with the Barone's)
