WELCOME BY PROF. ELIE MOUSSEAUX, ESCR 2014 MEETING PRESIDENT
As the meeting president of Cardiac Imaging 2014 in Paris, I would like to introduce our ESCR Annual Meeting that has reached an outstanding repeutation in Europe for Science and Education. The programme of this meeting has been built by the board of our society in close collaboration with the local committee, consisting of academic radiologists, active members of the Cardiovascular Imaging French Society (SFICV). The local committee has also worked very closely with cardiologists, members of both, the French National Society of Cardiology (SFC) and of the European Society of Cardiology, in order to produce a programme that balances the best of Europe and France in education as well as resarch in cardiac CT and MR. Thus, all members of cardiac imaging and medical societies are warmly invited to join the congress.
In Paris, three parallel sessions are scheduled, for covering at the same time basic education, research and highlighted lectures. The education track will be addressed to beginners in cardiac imaging and technologists in order to provide them with a better understanding of cardiac CT and MR. Basic physiopathology of cardiac diseases as well as clinical case sessions will be presented within this track, which aims to increase the confidence of participants in managing cardiac patients using these fantastic cardiac imaging modalities when they will return home.
The best of European research will be presented in selected papers as usual. However, specific time in this track will be further dedicated to European laboratories to present themselves and their work in cardiac imaging to increase their visibility at a European level and to facilitate the network for future international collaborations.
Concerning lectures, some hot topics have been highlighted in this meeting such as cardiometabolic diseases, sudden death, CMR flow applications and also new modalities to quantitatively assess myocardial fibrosis and perfusion. Moreover, guidelines and consensus sessions concerning the positioning of cardiac CT and MR will be presented and discussed with panels of both, cardiologist and radiologist experts. This year we will continue to welcome our friends and colleagues from the Asian and the North American Society for Cardiac Imaging (ASCI and NASCI) to participate to these lectures.
Programme topics this year are not only addressed to radiologists, cardiologist, nuclear medicine physicians and technologists, but also to fellows, students and physicists, who have an interest in cardiac imaging and cardiac imaging research. Abstracts for oral and poster presentation are welcome, which is why we encourage you to participate in this unique meeting.
Looking forward to welcoming you to Paris,
With best wishes,
Prof. Elie Mousseaux
