Sagittal planes
Plana sagittalia
Definition
Sagittal planes refer to vertically-oriented, antero-posterior planes which, when pass through the body in its anatomical position, divide it into right and left parts.
The sagittal planes lie at right angles to the vertically-oriented coronal planes, while they perpendicularly intersect the transverse (a.k.a. horizontal) planes.
