Description

The cuneus is a wedge-shaped area between the calcarine fissure and the medial part of the parieto- occipital fissure. It is a smaller lobe in the occipital lobe of the brain. The cuneus (Brodmann area 17) receives visual information from the contralateral superior retina representing the inferior visual field. It is most known for its involvement in basic visual processing.
