- Latin synonyms: Ramus superior arteriae lingularis

- Numbering: A5
Definition
The superior lingular artery (A4) is a branch of the left pulmonary artery that supplies the superior lingular segment (also known as the lingular division) of the left upper lobe of the lung.
The left pulmonary artery, after entering the hilum of the left lung, gives off several branches to supply the various segments of the left lung. The lingular artery (or lingular branch) typically arises from the interlobar portion of the left pulmonary artery and divides into two branches:
Superior lingular artery supplies the superior lingular segment (bronchopulmonary segment IV) of the left upper lobe.
Inferior lingular artery supplies the inferior lingular segment (bronchopulmonary segment V) of the left upper lobe.
