Images and anatomical references

This anatomical module of vet-Anatomy is based on sections of the normal canine brain on MRI. More than 400  images are available. They have been obtained on a 2 years old healthy labrador retriever on a 1.5 T MRI. Images are organized as :

  • 22 spin-echo transverse section images with 5 weightings available (FLAIR, T1, T1w-Gd, T2, T2*w).
  • 3 image series (transverse, sagittal and dorsal) based on MPR on a 3DT1W with gadolinium imaging.

305 anatomical parts have been labeled and organized in different sections:

  • Regions
  • Cerebral lobes
  • Brain
  • General Anatomy
  • Rhinencephalon
  • Neopallium
  • White matter
  • Corpus striatum
  • Diencephalon
  • Mesencephalon; Midbrain

  • Spinal cord
  • Cranial nerves
  • Ventricles
  • Subarachnoideal cisterns

  • Bones of cranium

This canine brain MRI has been performed by Dr. Susanne AEB Boroffka, dipl. ECVDI, PhD (Utrecht, Netherland). Images displaying and anatomical labeling have been done by Dr. Antoine Micheau, Radiologist (Montpellier, France) and Dr. Denis Hoa, Radiologist (Montpellier, France). Many thanks to Pascal Fontaine for his bibliographic contribution.

Terms are labeled using the Latin terms defined in the Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria (fifth edition - 2012 by ICVGAN). They have been translated into english and french by Antoine Micheau - MD, Imaios.
