Labeled cross-sectional anatomy of the canine thorax on CT
In this module of the animal atlas vet-Anatomy is displayed the cross-sectional labeled anatomy canine thorax on a Computed Tomography (CT) and on 3D images of the thorax of the dog.
CT images are available in 3 different planes (transverse, sagittal and dorsal) with two kinds of contrast (bones/lungs and soft tissues/mediastinum/vessels). Additional 3D anatomical images at the end are available, showing bones, muscles, vessels, trachea, bronchi and lungs of the thoracic cavity of the dog.
753 anatomical parts have been labeled, separated in different sections:
- Body parts
- Regions
- Bones: Vertebral column, Ribs, Sternum, Bones of thoracic limb, Numbering of vertebrae and ribs
- Joints
- Muscles
- Fascia
- Trachea
- Lungs
- Pulmonary lobes
- Pleura
- Mediastinum
- Heart
- Pulmonary arteries
- Pulmonary veins
- Arteries
- Veins
- Lymph nodes
- Nerves
- Alimentar canal
- Liver
- Lobes of liver
- Biliary tract
- Pancreas
- Spleen
- Urinary organs
- Peritoneum
This computed tomography with injection of iodinated contrast agent was performed on a healthy 7 years old Labrador Retriever by Dr. Susanne AEB Boroffka, dipl. ECVDI, PhD (Utrecht, Netherland).
3D rendered images were created from the CT by the Dr. Samuel Merigeaud (Tridilogy - Montpellier, France).
Images displaying, anatomical labeling was done by Dr. Antoine Micheau, Radiologist (Montpellier, France) and Dr. Denis Hoa, Radiologist (Montpellier, France).
Terms are labeled using the Latin terms defined in the Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria (fifth edition - 2012 by ICVGAN). They were translated into english and french by Antoine Micheau - MD, Imaios.
