Costal cartilage - Cartilago costalis


The costal cartilage is the ventral cartilagenous part of the rib (opposite to the dorsal bony part). It is connected to the bony rib at the costochondral junction and articulates by its sternal extremity with the sternum (forming the sternocostal joints).
