Coxal tuberosity - Tuber coxae

The coxal tuberosity is the lateroventral projection of the wing of ilium. It is an important landmak : it forms the poins of the hip visible in the horse and ox and palpable in the dog.

In the dog and other carnivores, the tuber coxae has two prominences; the cranial and caudal ventral iliac spines (not usually visible, both are readily palpable).
