Origin: Medial to the sulcus extensorius on the cranial portion of the articular margin of the tibia and on the lateral arched edge of the cranial border of the tibia.

Insertion: Metatarsal 1 and the proximal end of metatarsal 2.

Action: Flexion of the tarsus and rotation of the paw laterally.

Nerve: Peroneus.
