Anatomical children



Origin: Transverse processes of the second and third lumbar vertebra and by means of the ventral aponeurosis to the third and fourth lumbar vertebrae, and finally on the ventral and lateral surfaces of the fourth to seventh lumbar vertebrae.

Insertion: Along with the iliacus muscle to the lesser trochanter of the femur.

Action: To draw the pelvic limb forward by flexion of the hip joint; when the femur is fixed in position, flexion and fixation of the vertebral column; when the leg is extended backward, it draws the trunk backward.

Nerve: Branches of the rami ventrales of the lumbar nerve.
