Description

The sternum is composed by an unpaired segmental series of bones termed sternebrae, joined together by the intersternal cartilages.

The sternum is divided into three parts:

  • The manubrium  (the cranial part of the sternum)
  • The body
  • The xyphoid process (last sternebrae)
