Compedal region
Regio compedis
Definition
The compedal region, also known as the pastern region, is the portion of the digit in ungulates extending from the metacarpophalangeal or metatarsophalangeal joint proximally to the coronary region distally. In the horse, the ergot, usually concealed by the feathering, is a superficial landmark on the palmar aspect of the fetlock, proximal to this region.
