Laterla styloid process - Processus styloideus lateralis

Descripción

The styloid process of radius extends medially, from the distal the main carpal articular surface in the form of a sharp, wedge-shaped projection.

In the horse the distal part of the ulna is incorporated within the radius: for sake of clarity, the Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria has inserted two subentries for the styloid process for horse:

  • The medial styloid process that is homologous to "styloid process" and sometimes denominated as the "radial styloid process".
  • The lateral styloid process that appears to originate from the radius, although developmentally it belongs to the ulna and sometimes denominated as the "ulnar styloid process".
