Just starting to use our e-Anatomy human anatomy atlas on the web, iPhone, iPad or Android? This article introduces you to some of the most popular features.
Since our users' experience is our best reference, we have recently redesigned the viewer interface to be more intuitive and agreeable to use.
When watching this tutorial you’ll learn how to interact with the images, browse between all the series of images that contain a specific structure and create your own custom quiz.
Practice mode
This option allows you to display the captions as numbers. When you hover with the mouse, the number displays the corresponding label: perfect for training your memory and testing your knowledge under the same conditions as an exam.
You can also choose to work only on certain anatomical areas and remove the captions you don't need: your quizzes are completely personalized.
Move and interact with images
- Scroll: when this mode is activated, you can scroll through the series of images using the mouse wheel.
- Move: allows you to move the images in the viewer.
- Zoom: allows you to zoom in and out on details.
- Full screen: by clicking on this icon, the viewer is displayed in full screen.
Get detailed information about a structure
Each label is a link. If you click on it, a window opens on the left providing information such as a list of e-Anatomy modules that contain the anatomical structure you selected. By clicking on one of the modules, a gallery of all the images that contain the label opens. These images can be sorted by series.
Cross-reference bar
The cross-reference bar allows you to situate yourself thanks to the different views displayed. The blue line represents the position of the current image. It can also be used to navigate through the images by holding it down with the left mouse button and moving it left or right. If a module contains several series, then the title of the cross-references is marked in blue and is clickable. This allows direct access to the corresponding series.
Search for content
Use the search engine of the module to search for an anatomical structure (present in the module) and display it directly in the images. When you start typing a term in the search bar, a list of proposals will appear. You just need to select one of them. To reset the search, just click on the cross on the right of the search bar or on the cross next to the isolated label.

e-Anatomy IMAIOS is a world-renowned human anatomy atlas for radiologists and health professionals.
This atlas can be used online on the internet from your computer but also on smartphone and iOS or Android tablets with the e-Anatomy application.
It contains more than 23,000 images, with series of CT, MRI and PET images, in axial, coronal or sagittal planes, as well as radiographs and angiography images, dissection planes, anatomy diagrams and illustrations. These medical images are labeled in detail with over 870,000 caption points, available in 12 languages, including the Latin Terminologia Anatomica.
