定義
後脛骨筋の腱は、著しい解剖学的複雑性および変異性を示す。後脛骨筋腱の主要な付着は、足の舟状骨および内側楔状骨にある。しかしながら、複数の副付着も存在し、中間楔状骨および外側楔状骨、立方骨、ならびに第2・第3・第4中足骨の底部が含まれる場合がある。[1-2]
Olewnikらによる研究では、解剖学的剖出に基づき、腱の付着を4型に分類している。
• I型：足の舟状骨および内側楔状骨への単一帯状付着（16.25%）。
• II型：二重遠位付着（22.5%）。
• III型：三重遠位付着。最も多い型であり、主腱が足の舟状骨および内側楔状骨に付着し、2本の副帯が他のさまざまな骨に付着する（43.75%）。
• IV型：四重遠位付着（17.5%）。[1]
さらに、この腱は内果を回り込むように走行し、その部位で方向を変えるとともに、圧縮力およびせん断力を受ける。この領域は線維軟骨性構造を特徴とし、反復的なストレスにより損傷を受けやすい可能性がある。[3-4]
