Fibular notch

Incisura fibularis

Definition

The lower part of the tibia features a triangular area on its outer side. This area is separated into a smooth upper portion and a rough lower portion known as the fibular notch. Covered by hyaline cartilage, the fibular notch connects with the fibula to create the inferior tibiofibular joint and serves as the attachment point for the interosseous tibiofibular ligament.
