Foramen caecum ossis frontalis

  • Latin synonym: Foramen cecum ossis frontalis
  • Related terms: Foramen caecum

Definition

The frontal crest ends at a small notch at the bottom, which turns into a foramen known as the foramen caecum of frontal bone. It is located at the meeting point between the frontal bone and the cribriform plate of ethmoid bone. The foramen is often blocked, however, when open, it allows a vein from the nose to drain into the superior sagittal sinus.
