Definition

The groove for tendon flexor hallucis of talus is located on the posterior process of the talus body. It is enclosed by bony tubercles on both sides, one medially and the other laterally. The flexor hallucis longus muscle is a notable muscle in the deeper part of the posterior leg area. The tendon travels through the bony groove between the medial and lateral tubercles and enters the sole of the foot, ultimately attaching to the distal phalanx of the big toe.
