Lateral malleolar facet

Facies malleolaris lateralis

Definition

The lateral malleolar facet corresponds to the articular facet of the trochlea found on the outer or lateral side of the body of talus bone. It serves as an articulation point with the fibula’s lateral malleolus, forming a component of the ankle joint.

Directly beneath the lateral malleolar facet, one can observe a bony protrusion named the lateral process of talus.
