Definition
The inferior tympanic canaliculus is subtly located within the bone ridge that divides the external opening of the carotid canal from the jugular fossa. It serves as a channel for the tympanic branch of the glossopharyngeal nerve and the inferior tympanic branch of the ascending pharyngeal artery, allowing them to pass and provide innervation and blood flow to the inner wall of the tympanic cavity.
