The lateral meniscus is a semilunar fibrocartilage between the lateral condyles of femur and tibia.
In dogs, the lateral meniscus is slightly thicker and forms a slightly greater arc the the medial one. The lateral meniscus does not reach the border of the tibal caudolaterally where the tendon of origin of popliteus muscle passes over the tibial condyle.
