Тело ребра - Corpus costae

Описание

The body is the main part of the bony rib. It begins at the costal tubercle just after the neck, and ends at his ventral part with the costochondral junction.

The angle of the rib (costal angle) is on the proximal part of the body of the rib, is the region where the rib is the most strongly bent. The knee of the rib (costal knee) is the curvature near the costochondral junction in unguculates, and within the cartilage in carnivores.

On the caudoventral surface of the body of the rib is the costal groove, for intercostal vessels and nerves.

In horses and pigs, on the cranial border of the first rib, is a raised area for the caudal attachment of musculus scalenus ventralis termed the ventral scalene tubercle.

Mainly in horses, but often occurring in other species, are on the cranial border of the body of the rib, the tubercle for longissimus muscle and tubercle for iliocostal muscle.
