Styloid process - Processus styloideus

Description

In horses and ruminants, the hyoid process is a cylindrical process on the mastoid process, rostroventral to the external acoustic meatus, and serves as attachment for the hyoid apparatus. Itis absent in carnivores and pigs, and replaced by a rough area for hyoid apparatus attachment.
