Pylorus
Definition
The pylorus is the terminal part of the pyloric region where the stomach joins the duodenum. It contains the pyloric sphincter, a thickened ring of circular smooth muscle that controls the passage of chyme into the duodenum and prevents duodenogastric reflux.
