Tercera polea cruciforme
Ligamentum cruciformis tertium
Definición
La tercera polea cruciforme (C3) es una delgada banda fibrosa en forma de cruz que forma parte de la vaina fibrosa flexora del dedo. Se localiza entre el cuarto ligamento anular (A4) y el quinto ligamento anular (A5), inmediatamente proximal a la articulación interfalángica distal (IFD).
Su función principal es mantener la flexibilidad y continuidad de la vaina fibrosa, permitiéndole adaptarse a la flexión y extensión del dedo, al tiempo que garantiza el deslizamiento fluido del tendón y evita que la vaina se pliegue o se doble sobre sí misma.
