前境界板

定義
角膜上皮（角膜上皮の基底膜）の直下に位置する層は、一部の解剖学者がこれを独立した膜と見なすに至った特徴を呈しており、前境界板（前弾性板；lamina elastica anterior；前境界層；ボーマン膜）と命名されている。
しかし、この層は後弾性板とは異なり、線維性構造の所見を呈し、角膜の他の層から剥離された際に内側へ巻き込む傾向や断裂を生じる傾向が同程度には認められない。本層は、角膜固有質に認められるものと類似した極めて密に絡み合った線維から構成されるが、角膜小体は含まない。本層は、角膜固有質の緻密化した部分と見なすことができる。
