睫毛（cilia）は眼瞼の自由縁に付着しており、短く、太く、湾曲した毛が二列ないし三列に配列されている。上眼瞼の睫毛は下眼瞼のものより数が多く長く、上方に湾曲する。下眼瞼の睫毛は下方に湾曲するため、眼瞼を閉じた際に互いに絡み合うことはない。
