위이마이랑은 위이마고랑의 위쪽에 위치하며 반구의 안쪽면으로 이어집니다.
반구의 가쪽면에 있는 부분은 일반적으로 앞뒤 방향의 고랑인 곁안쪽고랑(paramedial sulcus)에 의해 위아래 두 부분으로 다소 완전하게 나뉘지만, 이 고랑은 연결이랑에 의해 자주 단절됩니다.
반구의 안쪽면에 있는 부분은 앞뒤 방향의 고랑인 위부리고랑(superior rostral sulcus, SRS)에 의해 아래 부분으로 나뉠 수 있습니다. 이 부분들은 Terminologia Anatomica 또는 TNA에 공식적으로 등재되어 있지 않지만, 다음과 같이 기술*됩니다:
위이마이랑의 위안쪽분절 (smSFG)은 띠이랑(CG) 또는 곁띠이랑(PCS)과 위부리고랑(SRS) 사이의 이랑입니다.
