Definición
El núcleo parasimpático sacral consiste en un conjunto de cuerpos celulares neuronales ubicados dentro de la sustancia intermedia lateral de los segmentos S2, S3 y S4 de la médula espinal. Estos cuerpos celulares neuronales son el origen de las fibras motoras autónomas parasimpáticas preganglionares que inervan el intestino posterior y los órganos pélvicos. A diferencia de la región toracolumbar de la médula espinal, el núcleo parasimpático sacral no forma un asta lateral distintiva en la región sacra.
